A Blues and roots band which does not take itself too seriously. Biography The band grew out of a 'side project' for founding members Andrew McNiven and John Nolan in 2004 with Conor Healy and Linden Compassi. Bob Macqueen, Paul Bird and Frank Bird are members of Paul's Jazz ensemble and their playing adds taste and more sophisticated arrangement touches without losing the spontaneity of the band's fundamentally blues/soul based approach to both the original numbers and the re-imagining of both classic and more obscure material. The band repetoire has evolved over the intervening years and has widened considerably from the blues and jazz standards which formed the basis of the set-list at the beginning. Successive members have added their own influences. The current lineup plays an electic mix of classic, contemporary and jump blues, some jazz and latin based grooves, some country and an increasing selection of soul and funk material reflecting the diverse musical backgrounds of the lineup. The band has also been working on some original material, examples of which can be heard on the playlist. The influences that guide the band musically are too many and diverse to list.
