Kriz Rogers
Holiday • Nashville, TN
Kriz Rogers preference in music was injected into her heart and soul right from the start. Her dad had a country music mixtape that he played in the car, and when Kriz had saved enough money to buy her own radio cassette player, he rewarded her by buying a country music cassette for her, and that was the only tape she listened to for a long time. Even though Kriz couldn't speak English at that time, she sang along to the songs until she learned them. That's where the stakes of the future path of her life were set in the ground. She started learning to play music on the toy instruments her father gave her for birthdays and Christmases, and started playing the accordion by her father's request when she was 10. One year later, her new music teacher heard that she could sing, so she suggested Kriz would switch to the guitar. She learned to play it while singing her favorite country songs. As a once bullied student, this was very good for Kriz's self confidence and feeling of self worth. Her music teacher asked her to sing and play for her class mates and they saw her in a different kind of light when they saw her talent and passion for music. Kriz made her first public performance at age 12. After that, she was a much sought after entertainer at social functions in her area, performing not only classic country cover songs but songs she wrote herself. She wrote her first country song at the age of 14.
Kriz has played in various country music constellations since she was 15. She was part of a band in Sundsvall, Sweden called Kriztina & The Kriztars and they played a few shows there and in Norway. After moving back to the rural area of northern Hälsingland, Kriz recorded five of her songs in a studio in Hudiksvall, and that was the start of a music venture that played at venues all over Sweden under the name Kriztina Åhs & Countryfied.
The title of the five song EP is "Kriztinacountry", and the following project "Roads" is a full length album also containing solely self written music. Both albums have been very well received and given great reviews by the county music press in Sweden, like by the magazine Kountry Korral and the digital outlet Countrywood. The song “Singing My Blues Away” reached #16 on the ECMA (European Country Music Association) chart in 2009 and #1 on the Swedish Närradiolistan on Folkradion and the song “Roads” was on the Scandinavian owned and European distributed Mr. Music’s release 1-2009. Kriz has performed at major country music festivals in Sweden like Duved, Lingbo and Vemdalen and she and her band also played with the American Rockabilly artist greats Carl Mann, Rayburn Anthony and Rip Masters when they visited Sweden in 2008. She was nominated for the title Sweden's Best Traditional Country Music Artist in 2008. After moving to Tennessee, USA in 2009, she has had the honor of singing at tribute shows in Nashville for Jerry Foster and Dallas Frazier. Those tribute shows also featured the country greats David Ball, Marty Raybon, Glenn Tubb, Karen Wheeler and June Stearns. "I feel very honored and blessed to have been a part of those shows, it was almost as if I was dreaming while still awake", she says.
The label Colt Records in Nashville has released demos of Kriz's and their first was "Memoryville". It is a 4/4 shuffle written by the legendary songwriter Glenn D. Tubb, who among other songs has written the hits "Skip A Rope", "Two Story House" and "Home Of The Blues".
Their second demo release is "Neon Lights And Steel Guitars", a song written by Kriz Rogers and Lonnie Ratliff. Kriz also produced it along with Danny Dunn, who for many years toured playing steel guitar for Charley Pride.
Independently, she has released several songs and some of them are "The Light That's Leading Towards Tomorrow" and the Christmas classic "Silent Night". In Kriz's version of the beloved Holiday song she sings in three different languages including English, Swedish and the original German.
"Only Human" placed Kriz Rogers on the RN's Spiritual chart #1 spot in Nashville, TN.
As a poet, Kriz has been awarded Featured Poem of The Month at Festival for Poetry for her "A Poem To A Child", which she wrote for her first grand daughter's Christening Ceremony.
Ever since Kriz moved to the US, she has worked at honing her craftsmanship as a songwriter as a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International - NSAI and lately with Songwriting Pro.
