Mutant Smith
Blues • Cleveland, OH
my music half Peter Ball died August 2015. I am now recording with Billy Clarksville's music. “Sounds like Tom Waits having stumbled into a psychedelic vortex, Steven in Wonderland, flailing ninja-like down a neon day-glo rabbit hole. Just perfect!” -- Mark Kuhar, DeepCleveland.com “Mutant Smith” material is quite the churning of the underbelly!-- highlights to me so far being High Wind Weather, Onward Ho, S.O.P. and damn, the Cleveland Gray is like a throat walking inside out through an invocation to Howlin Wolf— Ben Gulyas I do not sing very well . . . more growl howl moan groan like some illegitimate offspring of Howling Wolf and Captain Beefheart. Most words and voices © by Steven B. Smith, music © by Peter Ball aka Apartment One, Peter's collaborative collective. Voices on some cuts include Lady K, Peter Ball, Maxwell Shell, and others. I met Peter in the Warfarin mines beneath the Cleveland Warehouse District in 1982. I was serving time for bad taste, while Peter was the entertainment director. He needed a monkey to front his tin whistle band and I applied and got the job. You can hear much more of Peter Ball's "Apartment One" collective at reverbnation.com/apartmentone
