John O'Leary

John O'Leary has been a life-long folk/blues/rock musician. His bands have opened shows for two dozen R&R Hall of Fame acts—including Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, The Grateful Dead, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, and Frank Zappa. In the 1990s he played with oleary&lalli, a contemporary-folk guitar duo, with whom he recorded a CD, imaginatively titled "oleary&lalli," which received airplay on over 50 folk radio stations around North America. He has performed in top coffeehouses and concert venues from The Troubadour, Four Muses, and Hollywood Bowl in Southern California to Gerde's Folk City and The Bitter End in New York. He has recorded his songs with top session musicians such as Dave Mattacks, Richard Gates, and Kevin Barry—who have recorded or toured with the likes of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Elton John, Cat Stevens, Shawn Colvin, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. When asked how he is able to gather such top-tier music talent around him, John patiently explains his unorthodox business practice: "I pay them." These days he mostly plays bottle-neck slide guitar (with or without the bottle) accompanying his goddaughter, Abigail Arndt, a 19-year-old vocal prodigy. John and Abigail perform in-person in the New England area and online throughout North America.
