Remnants
Metal • Joplin, MO
Remnants are a force of sheer brutality out of Joplin, MO. Wielding a fiery passion for music and an intense live performance that steals the show against even the heaviest of metal bands. It's no wonder Remnants dominate their local scene, and continue to be recognized nationwide as an emerging name in death metal. Remnants, however, are not just emerging. They have had a frequent lineup of shows for over two years now, and have shared the stage with many big names, such as Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish, Impending Doom, Your Memorial, Alesana, War Of Ages, Born Of Osiris, Take It Back! and more. Remnants came to be by the merging of the most talented metal musicians in the Joplin area, including members of the local legend I Don't Wanna Die In Texas. The band is made up of Jon McCain (vocals), Gage Gillum (guitar), Bryce Hund (guitar), Mikey McCain (bass) and Clint Leedy (drums). Together they create unique, heavy, technical deathcore in the vein of their influences, which include Misery Signals, A Life Once Lost, The Handshake Murders, Architechts, etc. Precision and passion are the key to Remnants formula, and it shines through in the shredding guitars and bonecrushing breakdowns. Especially standing out are Leedy's tight drumming skills and McCain's brutal vocals and thought provoking lyrics, rivaling the ferocity of any vocalist in the genre. Remnants began recording material for their first full length album in late 2011 at ZombieLife Recording Studios in Joplin, MO. The self-titled debut will be released Summer/Fall 2012 on Loveway Records.

Lyrics

Can you taste the freedom? This is not yours. Dismantle this machine. You don't need this. Remove these chains and let me breathe. I'll rip my life from the hands of this clock. I'll count my breaths instead of seconds, minutes, hours. I'm tired of waiting, always waiting, for everything. For fucking nothing.
