Sarah Billings
Pop • Portland, OR
Sarah Billings is a fresh arrival to the Portland music scene. Billings comes to the stage a legitimate old soul, twenty-something showcasing electric vocal control, and a fiery unforgettable stage presence. A seasoned performer, Sarah has been swiftly welcomed into the oftentimes exclusive blues families gigging with the respectable likes of the Jacob Merlin Band, Renato Caranto currently touring with country legend Merle Haggard, and Oregon Music Hall Of Famer, Norman Sylvester. At first her band will strike you as baby-faced beginners rather than the grizzled sort of legendary talent that often grace the stages of Jimmy Maks and Aladdin Theater, but like Billings, they’ll blow you away when they take to the stage and unleash their powerful sound. The legendary talent that has rallied behind this up and coming passion on the rise include resumes listing legends such as Stevie Wonder, Curtis Salgado, and more. One thing is for sure, people are on the edge of their seats, or on their feet dancing every time Sarah Billings steps behind the mic. You may have heard Billings on KINK FM’s “Local Artist Spotlight,” live on Portland's KMHD, and many other FM stations globally. Her passion for music and dedication to supporting excellence is undeniable. You can catch her DJing on her weekly Wednesday morning radio show on 99.1 FM and streaming globally on www.PRP.fm in partnership with commercial free Portland Radio Project. Mentored currently by local broadcast legends Rebecca Webb, Inessa Anderson and Robert Parish. Sarah is seen often on local and legendary stages like Safeway’s Waterfront Blues Festival, Jimmy Maks, Aladdin Theater and more. In addition, she has been a pupil of Grammy nominated NuShooz front, Valerie Day, and is mentored by Oregon Music Hall of Fame inductee Norman Sylvester and 2013 Blues Music Award Winner, Curtis Salgado. All this coaching, collaboration, and support turned up, no doubt, in the songs she has written for her first ever studio album. A recording she is currently in process of. Polished but raw, tutored yet instinctive, Billings has all the markings of an unforgettable front-woman on the rise, poised for greatness and longevity.
