“Our friends over at The Groove Orient are back with the release of a new single, “Twisted Sister”, off their upcoming Welcome to the Show EP! Twisted Sister is just what we’ve come to expect from this exciting new six-piece band out of Orlando, Florida: a heavy hitting, chronic-infested jam that’ll have you rocking and grooving like never before! Give the dance beats a rest as you ease your eardrums into 2014 with something new, yet all too familiar. Enjoy “Twisted Sister” for free and get stoked for TGO’s upcoming EP, Welcome to the Show, which is set to be released sometime this Spring.”
“Orlando’s funkiest new aural experiment, The Groove Orient, is releasing their first studio-recorded EP Welcome To The Show in the spring of 2014. Their forthcoming EP will include five original songs lasting just under a half hour of mind-blowing, skull crushing, chronic-infested, hands in the air, grooviness. But stopping there wouldn't be very festive, and as a late Christmas present to us all, the guys over at The Groove Orient have decided to release the EP's single Twisted Sister in advance of the EP, which we are lucky enough to be premiering today. “The Groove Orient has been quietly impressing the live music scene in Orlando over the past few months. With obvious comparisons, in the best possible way, to the great Allman Brothers Band, these guys are amongst the most impressive group I’ve seen come out of Florida in some time.”
“It’s here! The 2nd release off The Groove Orient’s upcoming album, Welcome to the Show, was just unleashed yesterday. Rush is a nearly six-minute long track that is packed with more funk than most bands their age could handle. From that groovy bass line to the wonky guitar riff, bongos, overall jazzy undertones and even some jamming, if you haven’t figured it out yet, one thing’s for sure…TGO has. Catch these dudes at Firestone Live tonight alongside Milo & Otis for the club’s 2 Year Anniversary! Get your Groove Orient fix here.”
“The Groove Orient is a local Orlando band that shreds its hearts out on a daily basis. The band consists of Paul Terry (Drums), David Vanegas (Percussion/Bass/Vocals), David “Drillbit” Incorvaia (Electric Guitar), Chuck Magid (Electric/Acoustic Guitar/Vocals), Tommy Shugart (Hammond Organ/Electric Piano), Harry Ong (Lead Vocals/Bass) and they create a luscious combination of funk, rock n roll, southern rock, and a whole array of other influences that makes their sound so rare. This time around for “Rush” the guys combine a funky upbeat guitar lead, backed by a sea of smooth organ that is oozing with soul, alongside hard-hitting drums to keep your head nodding throughout the songs entirety. The bass and other, classic rock style-played guitar part are what kept me inclined throughout, but what shines the brightest during this new record has to be the organ, beautifully crafting the vibe from funk, to classic rock, to whatever they feel like doing next.”
“Approximately five months since their Fox Fest debut, there I was, at the Back to School Jam, Milk Carton Superstars clearing the stage, anticipating the ever evolving greatness of Orlando based music group, The Groove Orient. Each member of The Groove Orient (TGO) is either a current student or alumni of Rollins College. Tommy Shugart (Keys), David Incorvaia (Guitar), David Vanegas (Percussion/Bass), Chuck Magid (Guitar/Vocals), Harry Ong (Bass/Vocals/Percussion), and Paul Terry (Drums) are the collective and exceptionally talented apparatus that is The Groove Orient.”
