The Creation of Candy When I created Candy, my goal was to develop a direct connection for mature adults to their childhood. In these very hard economic times I wanted to create something that could take you away, back to the days of spending time at your grandmother's, eating comfort food and desserts off of one of those TV trays while watching your favorite show on the big, wood panel-sided TV. I remember my Grandma making fresh candy apples- they were sour, cool, and crispy on the inside and sweet, warm and gooey on the outside. Mmmm I can taste them now! Those candy apples were the starting point for my restaurant and lounge. The candy apple color that is so warm and inviting is the perfect remedy for all those cold, rainy Portland days. Caramel curtains and candy apple red mirrors draw you in, revealing a huge handmade chocolate wall behind the bar. When I designed Candy, I wanted computers at the tables as a way to cater to the playful child in each of us. Candy is a Sophisticated Ultra Lounge which allows adults to have a playground of their own. There is late night dancing on the weekends, and on Wednesdays we feature Ian James, a live acoustic soul musician to provide you with a midweek release. Candy's drink and Happy Hour menu, now being referred to as the best in the NW, was created to ease the burden of tough times and to help to take the edge off of a hard day of being an adult! Enjoying our food, from the desserts and milkshakes to our pizzas and hamburgers, will make you relive being carefree as a child without a worry in the world! It's as Peter Pan says, "I never want to grow up!" and so I created Candy, a wonderland in the Pearl for you to enjoy.
