Born Kandace Lavender on June 8, 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio Kandace, better known as "DC" is the only female
emcee within the Truth Tone family. DC which stand for Dust and Clay is currently employed at one of the
local nursing homes and is a student at Western Michigan University majoring in secondary education
with a minor in spanish. "I graduated high school wanting to be a pediatrician, because I have always wanted to be envolved with
helping young people but have always had a passion for english and literature." While persuing her music career DC would like to go on to getting
her master's and PhD in education where she hopes to soon be a high school principle.
With what seems like a impossible schedule, she manages to stay on top of her school, work, and commitment to Truth Tone. "I know
that it is only by God's grace that I am here today. When asked how Truth Tone has effected her life DC says, that
" Truth Tone is one of the best things that could've happened to me, it allows me to fufill my goal in
inspiring people, specifically the youth while at the same time expressing and challenging myself through the
different forms of my music." Through her musical talents DC has been able to open for Talib Kweli, Nas, Damien Marley, Big Boi, Slum Village, J. Cole and many others.DC has released her first solo album "Rhythm&HipHop October 2010. You can hear some of the album, and read more about
