Who has believed our message?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For He grew up before Him like a tender bud,
like a root out of the parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty
that we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted.
He was despised and forsaken,
a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief;
and like one from whom men hide their face
and we did not esteem.
Surely our griefs He bore,
and our sorrows He carried;
yet we esteemed Him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
But He was crushed for our transgressions,
for our iniquities;
the chastening of our being fell on Him.
Like sheep we go astray;
but he has made our sin to fall on him,
oppressed and afflicted,
mouth shut he was lead as
a lamb to his death
By oppression He was taken away;
as for His generation He was cut out.
For the transgression of our people,
to whom the stroke was due.
But He was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
would render an offering.
He will see His offspring,
prolong their days,
and the pleasure of the Lord will prosper.
The Father’s seen all his labor.
Surely his blood will justify many souls.
He poured out Himself to death and He chose to bear the sin of us all.
Although He existed in the form of God,
He did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but He emptied Himself,
taking the form of a bondservant and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
For this reason also
God Highly exalted Him,
and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name.
So that at that name, of Jesus, every knee will bow, of those who are in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth,
and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
