Jacob "Jay-One" Roland is an Alternative Hip-Hop artist born and raised in North Lauderdale, Florida on May 4th 1990. Jay-One gets his name from his father who gave it to him at birth, Jay for "Jacob" and One for "One With God". Jacob graduated from Coconut Creek High School in 2008 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Media Production from American Intercontinental University in 2012. Jacob began writing songs and recording them off of a karaoke machine when he was 12, which eventually led to him investing in a home studio when he was 15. Jay also produces, engineers, and even occasionally edits his own videos. In 2004, he interned at Power 96 during his freshman year in high school. In 2010, He released his debut mix tape, "My First/Last Breath". with features from D.Y.G. and Black Chiney. Then he released his mixtape "Garage Flows" in June 2011, which he made while recording in his garage, and his third mixtape "One Way" released in winter of 2013. His 4th and most popular cd, "Reinvention Of Self" 2014, has been heard everywhere worldwide by the thousands and has given him a lot of the notoriety he has today. The CD featured the hit songs "Bak-N-Tha Dayz" Ft. Kris Blak and "Bad". Jay has released his music all over iTunes, Spotify, Vevo and more, constantly pushing his music out further to his fans everyday and engaging with them on social media. He has been known to be uniquely notorious for his versatile flow, controversial lyrics, and originality. Jay brings his life experiences with a twist of metaphysical psychedelia taking Hip-Hop into the future. Listeners are sure to gain a few more brain cells listening to his conscious words of wisdom. Jay has been featured on such TV shows such as Lee Pitts Live and radio shows like FireMix Radio. He is currently working on his Debut album which is expected to be released in 2016. Today, Jay-One is the founder and CEO of Jay91 Records, Inc. and Jay91 Studios, which handles all of the audio and video for the record company as well as for other clients and himself.
