Saturday Night Soldiers
Rock • Saint Louis, MO
It’s tales of black cadillacs and dance parties with the dead, processions led by Day Glo marching bands, and epic parties with entire circuses stuffed into one bedroom apartments. Saturday Night Soldiers are storytellers boasting themes from the macabre to the tongue-in-cheek. Guitar lines that are unapologetically catchy, groovy up-tempo dance beats, and top notch vocals make Saturday Night Soldiers a band that moves people. Physically. This three-piece Psychedelic Dance-Rock group can be likened to Modest Mouse, The Doors, or Portugal. The Man, but they are truly a style of their own. It’s unique, fun, moving music for a new generation of blues rockers. Saturday Night Soldiers shines on stage. They perform from the heart and deliver tight sets. With years of playing together in various groups under their belt, they’ve developed a keen awareness of each other’s temperaments and can write and perform off the cuff with an astounding level of movement and depth. They leave the stage panting and wrecked from how much of themselves they put into performing. Jason Currington supplements his years of classic training with an arsenal of ethereal, otherworldly sounds. He’s a wild and frenetic presence on the stage. Bound behind his keys, he dances in whatever space he has. Doc Box performs as though he’s at war with his guitar and the demons that intermittently possess him. Steve ‘Rock and Roll’ Downey is the master of his dojo. Playing with a sense of calm, pure, thriving energy. He commands his kit and is one with it.
