The Dirty Doors: A Tribute to The Doors
Rock • Atlanta, GA
The Dirty Doors celebrate the energy, excitement, and passion of the timeless music of Jim Morrison and The Doors like no other tribute band. The Doors were unique and among the most controversial and influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly because of Morrison’s lyrics and charismatic, unpredictable stage persona. The Atlanta-based band, The Dirty Doors, faithfully recreates the magic of a Doors concert in sound and stage presence with all the classic Doors hits like “Light My Fire,” “Riders On The Storm,” “Hello, I Love You,” and “L.A. Woman.” Why The “Dirty” Doors? People sometimes ask why we call ourselves The “Dirty” Doors. There are a few reasons we chose this name: • Ray Manzarek and John Densmore of The Doors have both referred to their band as “the dirty Doors” in various books and interviews. This was in reference to the way the band was viewed by the “establishment” in the late 1960s and early 1970s. • Our band is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and Atlanta is sometimes referred to as “the dirty south.” • We are a tribute band, so what we do isn’t perfect. It’s a little “dirty.” • Jim Morrison got the name for The Doors from a quote by English poet William Blake: “If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.” Before things are cleansed, they are dirty. The band features Reed Barrickman on vocals, Matt Boehnlein on guitar, Geoff Lewis on keyboards and Eric Sanders on drums.
