The Farthest Edge
Rock • Billings, MT
The Farthest Edge was formed in the summer of 2011, by veteran musicians Rich Candelaria, Patrick Michaelis, and Matt Ryan. Candelaria came across Patrick Lee who was performing at a local venue, and asked if he'd be interested in writing some material. Matt Ryan, who had just made the decision to postpone a move to Connecticut, had been in touch with Candelaria and hopped onboard. Shortly thereafter, Michaelis, Candelaria, and Ryan co-wrote what is now the first single on the debut album. Bass player Stefan Flores, whose musical career previously consisted primarily of playing drums, came on board shortly thereafter. The fantastic chemistry between the members inevitably led to an amped up live debut opening for the likes of Pop Evil, Static-X, Deuce, and supporting bands such as Cinderella, Sick Puppies, and Candlebox. By January of 2013, they had gained interest from several music industry professionals and also recorded the rest of their album with renowned guitarist Clint Lowery of Sevendust who produced the tracks in New Jersey at Architekt Music. In early 2013, TFE’s original drummer made the decision to depart from the band. Stefan Flores stepped down from Bass and took to his original instrument and became TFE's permanent drummer. In the search for a new bass player, they found themselves looking at Patrick’s long time friend Johnny Angus, who took the plunge and moved from New York to Montana to join as the bands permanent bass player. Since then, they have found themselves being direct support for Grammy winners Halestorm and opening for the likes of Sevendust, Hoobastank, Fuel, Alien Ant Farm and Los Lonely Boys. Their debut album is due out in the next few months. - August 2013
