Ballad For Layla is a Malaysian metalcore band with a concept of warriors, from Seri Gombak, Selangor. Founded in late 2006 and having their completed first Line-up in early 2007, the band consist of vocalist Izwan Safuan (One Jet), his brother, drummer Nirwan Izhan (An), first guitarist Farhan (Paan), second guitarist Nazif, bassist Nik Farizan (Nik) and keyboardist Syamim. Ballad For Layla emerged with a screamo/metal sound on their single ‘The Awakening’ with screamed and clean vocals combined. In 2010, they changed their style on second single, ‘Trudy Trueblood’, which featured more of a war-metal/epic style. Their strength lies not only in their songs, but also in their lyrics the soul is pierced. With tight arrangements, Ballad For Layla delivered powerful and energetic performances in every single gig they’ve performed. Influenced by Avenged Sevenfold, the band came up with an epic single called ‘The Dead Marshes’ and performed it as the second song on ROTTW Soundstage 2010. They were the 1st runner up and was recognize nationally. Now, they have released their first EP on 4th June.
