Born into a musical family in Baracoa (Cuba), Ms. Boizán began her piano studies with her grandmother, Esclarecida Guilarte. An honours graduate from the National School of Music in Havana, she continued her music studies in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia, and obtained her Master in Music degree at the University of Alberta. Her recent debut with the Ontario Philharmonic was followed by a performance with world renowned cellist Mischa Maisky at the New Classical 96.3FM Toronto Concert Lobby. Other recent appearances include London ON’s Aeolian Hall, Kitchener’s Registry Theatre, Toronto’s Gallery 345, the Kaslo Concert Society (BC), the Concert Association of Huntsville (ON), the Steinway Piano Gallery Toronto, and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection (Kleinburg). Future engagements will feature debut recitals at St. James’s Piccadilly in London (UK), the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto and Almonte Old Town Hall (ON). Her debut CD, Pasión, on Galano Records, features Boizán playing 17 solo piano pieces written by some of her favorite Spanish and Latin American composers, a repertoire that has brought her great success since the beginning of her career.
