“She surprises by her sensitivity, her pianism and her incomparable and masterful sound"
– José Luis Turina (Spanish composer)
“Ms. Boizán is endowed with the skill of a virtuoso. Her playing is above reproach, a breath of a tropical breeze always swirling somewhere in the space between the score and Ms. Boizán’s performance.”

“One of the brightest new lights in the classical world” – The Vancouver Sun
An exotic and deeply authentic musician in the Classical Music World today, Cuban-Canadian pianist Beatriz Boizán is admired for her vibrant personality, charismatic stage presence, unique musicianship and innate talent to deliver breathtakingly innovative performances of Spanish and Latin American music, a repertoire for which she was encouraged by the late Alicia de Larrocha.
Born into a musical family in Baracoa (Cuba), Ms. Boizán began her piano studies with her grandmother, Esclarecida Guilarte. An honours graduate from the National School of Music in Havana, she continued her music studies in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia, and obtained her Master in Music degree at the University of Alberta.
Her recent debut with the Ontario Philharmonic was followed by a performance with world renowned cellist Mischa Maisky at the New Classical 96.3FM Toronto Concert Lobby. Other recent appearances include London ON’s Aeolian Hall, Kitchener’s Registry Theatre, Toronto’s Gallery 345, the Kaslo Concert Society (BC), the Concert Association of Huntsville (ON), the Steinway Piano Gallery Toronto, and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection (Kleinburg). Future engagements will feature debut recitals at St. James’s Piccadilly in London (UK), the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto and Almonte Old Town Hall (ON).
Her debut CD, Pasión, on Galano Records, features Boizán playing 17 solo piano pieces written by some of her favorite Spanish and Latin American composers, a repertoire that has brought her great success since the beginning of her career. Her stunning, scintillating, passionate and moving interpretations are delivered with deep maturity, understanding and respect. Her performance of Danzas Argentinas by Alberto Ginastera at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria (1998) and Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance with Mischa Maisky in Toronto (2012) have been televised in numerous occasions by Radio Televisión Española.
