BOOM CITY
Rock • Seattle, WA
SMALL FUN, by seattle band BOOM CITY, is a 6 song sampler of an upcoming full length record, which will likely be called BIG FUN. It was recorded locally, at soundhouse studios and various apartments, by Eric Corson and John Roderick (The Long Winters), and mixed at orbit audio by John Goodmanson (Weezer, Nada Surf, Owl City, Wu-Tang Clan). Like all grand edifices in American culture, BOOM CITY was born out of bitterness and resentment, mostly. - Frontman and guitarist Eric Howk used to be in a band called The Lashes on Columbia records. In May of 2007 he fell down a 15 foot hole and got dropped from his label. He wrote all these songs in one frantic month. - Jon Wesley is currently a fantastic barista at Lladro Coffee on 15th. He was previously in an equally fantastic band called "MK Speeddial", named after a phonecall placed shortly before the tragic and premature death of Heath Ledger - Jacob James is criminally under utilized as the synth player in this band; he plays a mean French Horn, and writes great soundscapes in his own pop project by the name of SHiPs. - Jody Waymire has a child, a wife, and an immaculate sense of powerpop and style, thanks to his former stand in bands such as Moral Crux, and The Lashes. - Michael Knight is a metronome with a ponytail. He is a ferocious hitter, but a soft hugger. - The band's goals are few but grandiose. They would like to someday play in russia, on the moon, and in the rose garden of the white house. The order dosen't matter to them much.
