Chuck Champion and The Contenders
Americana • Mebane, NC
Contact Info: chuck@chuckchampion.com Chuck Champion is a three time finalist in the NC Songwriter's Song Contest. He co-wrote his first song at age six with cousins Al Champion (age ten) and Randy Johnson (age eleven). The song, “Twirly Top”, was an instant hit on the Fuquay-Varina Elementary School playground. Scores of songs, thousands of miles and several albums later, Chuck Champion is still writing, playing, singing, performing and recording. He can often be seen under the influence of a group of talented musicians known as the Contenders. The Contenders consist of Paul T. Baker on lead guitar, Fred Miller and Ralph DeMasi on drums and Trey Marchant on bass and vocals. Chuck Champion plays guitar and sings. While roots rock is at the core of all their music, Chuck Champion and the Contenders blend Roots Rock, Blues and Country Rock into a special brew of Americana all their own. Whether playing award winning original songs or playing covers by The Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughn or any number of other great songwriters, Chuck Champion and The Contenders deliver a GOOD TIME EVERY TIME! Each show and record, with Chuck Champion The Contenders, moves at a fast, toe tapping pace. The occasional ballad is but a brief respite for even more toe tapping to come. Chuck also delivers a great solo show for those with a smaller venue or budget.
