Crisean (born July 8, 1987) is an American singer-songwriter, producer and independent artist with an infusion of Pop, Dance and Soul/R&B. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2014 Crisean released “Sound Approved” (Demo Edition) – EP his first body of work. Having written and produced every song it touches on topics of love, wanting to find love, self-empowerment and self-acceptance. To promote the project, Crisean had to do what every independent artist has to do and that’s everything yourself. 2014 was the year that he was introduced to the public as an artist. Crisean reached out to local papers, blogs and performance events. In March he graced his first cover in the press “Baltimore OutLoud”. He has performed in various Open Mic Nights and events across the City of Baltimore including his most memorable “Baltimore Pride 2014”. In July 2014 he repeated his driven desire to make it and moved to New York City to take his dream to new heights. In January 2015 he performed for HyperGender Burlesque at WOW Café Theatre and embarked on a promotional tour “Crisean The Promo Tour” and preformed around the big city as well as Washington D.C’s “Capital Trans Pride” and “Black Gay Pride.”
Since the age of 8, he has been singing his heart out singing Disney songs around the house and putting on shows for family members. He also attempted, putting words to paper writing lyrics and coming up with topics that made no sense. In 2006 he started writing songs for his debut studio album. With no formal training Crisean studied music at Baltimore City Community College. Being inspired by contemporary artists his whole life such as Beyonce, Britney Spears and Usher, BCCC is where he fell in love with Soul Music and legendary icons such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Elvis Presley.
Crisean’s goals are to inspiration young LGBT people and people who have been oppressed and ostracized. “I want them to see a source of comfort and aspiration when they see me like I had with shows such as “Noah’s Arc”, “Queer as Folk” and “The L Word”. “I feel as gay people, we allow society to tell us what we can and cannot do. Hopefully, I can reach such heights that young and old gay people alike can say, "It's possible because Crisean did it." Say’s Crisean in a 2014 Huffington Post article.
