Crisis Children
Indie • Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
Newcastle based Indie pop band with rock roots who were signed to local label Neat Records making the album "One More Time for the Stupid People" which was released in 1996. Their debut single "I'd Like to Paint an Aeroplane for Richard Branson" came out in 1992 and received national press and played on Radio 1. Richard Branson said if it made the top 10 he would let the band paint one of his planes! (Unfortunately it didn't). Second single was "One Hit Wonder Club" which made the Melody Maker top 10. Their final single on Neat was "When I Grow up I want to be an Angel" which showed the band moving into a more dance orientated direction. It managed to get into the lower end of the Japanese charts. The band have supported acts such as Manic Street Preachers, The Stranglers, The Christians, Echobelly , Stiff Little Fingers and Blaggers I.T.A . Former members of the Crisis Children have also been in Dubstar and Jimmy Nail's band. Check out the videos for their tv appearances.
