Desertion

Desertion is a Southern Metalcore band from Windsor, ON. The band was formed by guitarist Mitch Tousignant and bassist Spencer Scanlan, the two then brought in guitarist Collin Giofu and drummer Jeremy Lavergne, and started searching for their sound. The band was finally completed with vocalist Eric Bezaire and the legacy began.

With their debut EP “Welcome to Nothing” Desertion started opening for such acts as Odium, Kingdoms, Beneath the Sky, Farewell to Freeway, Baptized in Blood as well as many more. A dedicated fan base soon followed.

Sadly in 2011, Eric Bezaire left Desertion in hopes of pursuing a new musical direction leaving the band without a lead singer. Marc Oliver and his gut-wrenching vocals brought them back on track and Desertion made a come-back with a brand new line-up.

The band took time to write new material and worked together to find their focus as a group. The time was needed and brought them closer together. The new songs highlighted the band’s changes and outlined how much they had grown as musicians. Success followed when Desertion’s new collection of music helped them open for bands such as After the Burial, Within the Ruins, Veil of Maya, Misery Signals, Structures and many more.

Currently Desertion has taken to hitting the road and performing all over Ontario. They are about to embark on recording their first full length album. This will be followed by a tour to promote the album as well as their new sound. Desertion looks forward to the future and what it will bring them.
