Containing an incredible stage presence and knack for creating what his peers describe as “Feel Good Music”, D.SON is your ideal, up and coming Emcee who relishes the underdog role in his city of Chicago. His captivating, yet easy on the ears flow, showcases his versatility on tracks which exemplifies what makes him a unique listen. The confidence he breathes into his delivery is undeniable. Some people say he is a “Breath of fresh air” in the music scene. Others say he is “Bringin’ The Real Back”. In the summer of 2011, D.Son release his highly anticipated #SummerTimeCHI project. #SummerTimeCHI was well received by peers and hip hop blogs alike which garnered D.Son more acclaim musically throughout the city and some parts of the US. With each song and project released, D.Son continues to show and prove that he is worth a mention when asked about not only up and coming emcees locally, but also nationally. D.Son’s work ethic and grind landed him a spot opening up for Styles P of The LOX in November of 2011 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as some of the most prestigious Hip Hop venues in up North Chicago. D.Son has also performed as a headliner in Chicago’s annual African Festival and shows that have been hosted by Chicago radio personality Bionce Foxx. He has been a featured artist in the teen magazine “TrueStar” (Summer 2010 issue with Hip Hop, Chicago mogul Common on the cover), as well as various radio interviews with www.windycityunderground.com regularly and quite a few local and national hip hop blogs. Aside from music, D.Son is also an active member in the community as he heads a Pre-Teen Club in the Chicago Park Districts and also founding an all Youth Boys not-for-profit “Son Shall Rise”, for the empowerment and present and future success for youth boys. D.Son wants to build a brand not only known for his music, but its presence in the community.
“I’m just not in this for the music. My music is just a platform for what I ultimately want to do. I want to change lives. I want to start movements. I’m here to stay and telling me “NO” simply is not an option”.
