Eileen Joyce has been called Nova Scotia's Lady of The Blues. because she brings soulful energy to her singing, songwriting, producing and performing. This passion comes from the depths of her strength, perseverance and love of music.
Born in Halifax, Eileen was inspired and encouraged by her father and brother, both jazz drummers, Lou Williamson Sr, and Lou Williamson Jr. Eileen was often chosen as soloist in school choirs and felt compelled to cultivated her craft as a young adult in Toronto. Singing with top 40 bands and developing further in musical theatre, she found her sound from a deep love of soul, R & B and her early jazz influence.
Eileen has not stopped at developing her performance, she has spread her inspiration and gifts as creator and founder of Blues East, now known as The East Coast Blues Society, and Ladies In Blues. She shares and promotes her experience and knowledge has been published in several Canadian music publications.
Eileen's fourth and strongest CD to date “Life Is Too Short” brings out the very best of her determination and abilities. Only 3 years ago Eileen was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, an autoimmune disease. At that time, only able to sing in her head, she sought treatment only to find there was none except research medication, and prepared to fight. Eileen's treatments and therapy, along with vocal training from jazz vocalist and Concordia Professor, Jeri Brown have brought out her very best vocal performance and song-writing abilities. She has drawn on her hearts desire and will inspire you with her energetic yet sophisticated Jazz, Blues, R&B style. “Life is Too Short” is a collection of originals, mostly co-written with her pianist Bill Harvey, songs like “Just Me and the Boys“ and “Rolling in the Sugar “ will get the fun started. “One Vision” a poignant composition of her song for the world, offers the collaborative strengths of Las Vegas Composer, Arranger, Director and Pianist Woody Woods. “Ain't It Sad Sister” is written and dedicated to her sister, Anet Williamson who died only 8 months after her diagnosis with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
This CD is dedicated to Eileen's siblings, Anet Williamson and Louis Williamson, both who died too soon.
