Éliz Robert is a literature addict, a poet & Spoken Word artist. She also creates bridges between cultures translating poems from a language to another. Voted amongst TOP TEN SPOKEN WORD ARTISTS OF MONTRÉAL FOR 2009 (The Mirror) Éliz Robert writes poetry and performs Spoken Word in French, English and Spanish. She has been featured at Festival Voix d'Amériques, Calgary International Spoken Word Festival, Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, FiEstival maelstrÖm revolution in Brussels, Buenos Aires Capital Mundial del Libro, Québec en toutes lettres, the AB Series, The Yellow Door Poetry & Prose Readings, the OFF-FIL, the Annual Lovers & Others, Metropolis Bleu, as well as many other reading series. She is a graduate of the Banff Center Spoken Word Residency and has toured in Europe, Canada, Latin America and New York City. Her texts have appeared on the docks of Montréal's metro stations as part of La poésie prend le metro, in a Canadian anthology, as well as the literary magazines Brèves littéraires, Helios and the Sitting Duck Press Chapbook. In 2010, she released one of her Spoken Word pieces on the compilation CD Une chance qu'on SLAMME. In 2012, her translations of Walkups: La vie montréalaise, Les lignes de désir, Notes de terrains, Passage de ville, Les rues des saints and Chansonnettes de ville, were adapted into an interactive poetic mapping of Montréal, as part of Détours: poétique de la ville (Taien Ng-Chan). In 2006, she founded Noches de poesia, a multilingual reading series which brought hundreds of poets to Montreal's stages and around. She was the initiator and co-producer of Troc-paroles/Troc de paraules - the first delegation of multilingual poets to have represented Montréal at the World Book Fair, LIBER 08, in Barcelona, Spain. From 2007-2012, she acted as editor of YoungPoets.ca, the youth section of the League of Canadian Poets and has taken part in Random Acts of Poetry national campaigns. From 2008 to 2010, she produced POESIA LIBRE - El camino más corto de corazón a corazón, a Spanish language radioshow where she interviews poets and literary translators. Podcasts were rebroadcasted in Florida, Mexico, Patagonia, Barcelona, Morocco, Lebanon and Galicia. From 2008-2010, she was a regular literary columnist on www.CHOQ.FM's popular show Les contes à rendre, and a seasonal collaborator on other Montréal radio stations. Éliz is full member of The League of Canadian Poets, the SOCAN, the Quebec Writers Federation, and the Literary Translators Association of Canada (LTAC). She holds a BA in Spécialisation de Traduction from Concordia University and has published six collections of poetry in translation from English or Spanish into French, as well as few poems of her own in selected anthologies.
