Floyd King & the Bushwackers
Folk • Lathrup Village, MI
Michigan’s premier (and perhaps only) folk-rockin’ semi-bluegrass party-gospel band brings some serious instrumental prowess and stunning vocal harmonies to the stage in songs informed by both true history and tall tales. Visits to down-south honky-tonks, odes to bourbon, preachers and intimidating high-school dance partners – even the occasional touching ballad – are part of a typical Bushwackers set.
The Bushwackers came together around 2002 as ‘Floyd’ drew from a cast of talented friends. Going strong as a foursome until the unfortunate passing of Denise aka ‘Precious’ then continuing as a trio performing at festivals and concert venues.
Dennis ‘Floyd’ Kingsbury on vocals, mandolin, and acoustic (sometimes slide) guitar.
Jim ‘Lloyd’ Bizer on vocals and acoustic (lead) guitar.
Maggie ‘Grace’ Ferguson on vocals, acoustic guitar and percussion.
Denise Marie ‘Precious’ Stein (RIP) previously on vocals.
Jack “the Old Scout” Ferguson on tall tales.
High-flying three-part harmonies with acoustic guitars and mandolin on mostly original songs and some well-known covers, this band of characters really bring it.
