James Peter Tippins was born & raised in the city of Portsmouth (England) where music has been his passion since childhood. Starting off as a drummer aged just 10, he played in various local bands, of all genres. It was at the age of 12 that James first picked up a guitar & after learning his first few chords, there was no stopping him. Though despite having been writing original material from such a young age, James remained a drummer and it wasn't until late 2008 that James tenatively began performing his own music live to audiences. His heart-felt lyrics touching on love, friendship and heartbreak strung a chord with everyone - this combined with his open and genuine nature made him an instant hit with his fast-growing fanbase. 2010 saw James' first studio release 'Always Around' - an 8 track EP. His second release, a 10 track studio album titled 'From dreams, I have become...' was released in April 2012 and both are available on iTunes & Spotify. Both albums were recorded and mastered at Retro Central Studios and on a majority of the tracks the multi-talented Mr. Tippins also played every other instrument, though he also enjoys including guest musicians on his tracks where he can. The release of his second album saw a surge in James’ profile overseas in the USA. Social networking, radio play, press, interviews and press resulted in a solid and loyal fanbase and increasing requests for him to go and perfrom in person. In May 2012 James embarked on two successful acoustic tours of both New York and South Carolina. He is now organising his return to the States in 2013 to acompany his third studio album release “Ghosts And The Getaway” where he's planning to play Chicago and L.A , as well as returning to NYC & South Carolina once again. “Ghosts And The Getaway” is set for release early 2013 and will be available on Spotify & iTunes as well as in CD format.
