Joe Roads
Singer Songwriter • Hendersonville, NC
I see myself as a true American artist. Using visions and observations as reference to the communion of words and music. The beauty of nature, art, music, literature, and theater inspires me. People ignite my energy and I find myself attracted to social oddities. I am an Aquarius feeling sincerity for my art and an underlining obligation to accomplish as much as I can as an artist. Though I have never imagined a reality in music, I have found it to be a medium universal on impact and easy on emotion. I always thought I would be a cartoonist or designer, prodding away at the drawing board, day in and day out. Mislead without the instant gratification of a live audience. I’d like to be remembered as somewhat of a prophet philosophizing romantic lyric, dying on society’s crucifix for my love of art and my loyalty to creation. ---Joe Roads Why this name? Seemed only appropriate. Do you play live? I like performance; bleeding and crying for opened air minds. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry? It makes for a larger market. Would you sign a record contract with a major label? Yes. Band History: His first public appearance was in June of 1992 at the 8x10 (Baltimore). Immediately he was noted for his theatrical approach to music. With his combination of poetic lyricism as well as a psychedelic blues sound, Joe Roads gained the reputation of being epic and dramatic. In October of 1994, Joe (an alumnus of Ringling School Of Art And Design) relocated to Sarasota, Florida. His touring continued in and around Florida as well as Georgia, Louisiana, California, West Virginia and, Virginia. Your influences? The Doors, Richie Havens, poetry, blues, jazz, roots, rock & roll Favorite spot? I like to be by the water. Equipment used: Guild acoustic guitar Anything else...? Originality!!!
