Just Bill aka Bill Thompson -- recently relocated back to Mission, KS in the Kansas City metro area from Jacksonville, FL.
Although originally from Detroit and Chicago, Bill started writing songs and playing guitar at the age of 35 while living in Topeka, KS. Prior to that, he had dabbled in playing harmonica and eventually, dabbling turned into real practicing and at age 40 he joined his first band – Blues Bums and a Babe in Topeka. That band morphed into Babe and the Shakers. While in Topeka he also became immersed in playing conga drums and other hand percussion such as djembe and cajon.
Bill then moved to Kansas City and played in Blind Dog Rising, the Willie J. Parker Band, The B Sharps, Ghost Mountain Revival and Lance Deel and the Deal Breakers. However, the attraction of warmer winter weather prompted the move to Florida in 2021. His original music is an Americana blend of bluesy shuffles, funky grooves and roots rock.
However, Bill's love of Kansas City and being near his kids, their spouses and his granddaughter prevailed. Hence, the move back.
