Matthew Lee is a multi instrumentalist. He played the piano at 5 years old, drums at 13, guitar and violin at 17. Electric guitar was is favourite. He played instrumental rock songs by satriani, addy cradle, eric johnson, etc.
During his multimedia studies, he learnt about audio engineering. With that knowledge, he produced 2 albums so far.
Matthew has also played music at many venues. He played keyboard with a band called Quasimodo at the Esplanade waterfront in Singapore. As for guitar, he played at various venues in Singapore, UK and also in a few cities in India. His latest album is Strawberry Vanilla, an instrumental rock album.

Performance history
As a guitarist in Singapore, Matthew joined the Singapore Polytechnic Jazz Band in 2005 and performed at various places and events. In 2008 he joined a power metal band called Tyrantula and performed at Playden in the Arts house. In the following year, he worked with Beverly Francisco from the Phillipines to form a pop group, Big Stars 24. They played at places like open mic at the Singapore Arts Meuseum which is a collaboration between Singapore arts museum, Singapore arts cafe and power 98 radio station and they played at Ignite cafe open mic as well.
In 2012 he joined a christian rock band, Reverse, led by Bobby Leonard as a lead guitarist. In the same year, he toured with them in various parts of India like Lucknow, Patna and Ranchi. In the following year, he played with them at 2 venues in Singapore, Glory of God church and an open mic event at Bedok market place. Later in that year, he toured India again and played in Mumbai.
In 2014 he moved to london where he played in Blues Kitchen open mic.
For his instrumental rock performances in Singapore, he played together with Addy Rasidi aka Addy Cradle (The only Ibanez endorsee in Singapore) at The Pump Room open mic. He also performed his own compositions and other instrumental covers at places like, outside Cineleisure shopping centre, Scape ( mascot parade event ) and also various gigs organised by jamming studios. He joined major music competitions like Project Stardust and Singapore Street Fest.
In london, he played in King William IV open mic.
Recordings
Matthew did various recordings, his own solo projects and various collaborations with other musicians. In 2011 he released an album, Constellations, with pop group Big Stars 24. In early 2013, he released his own instrumental rock album, Strawberry vanilla. In the later part of the year he recorded and composed songs for his christian rock band, Reverse.
Matthew also did various video collaborations with other artist from Singapore. He worked with people like Fiona Teo ( Solo vocal artist ), Sakura Soh ( vocalist of kuroniji ), Ryu Lee ( ex Sangriento drummer ), Hanafiah ( Sangriento guitarist ), Shafiq ( Sangriento guitarist ), Kai ( solo artist ), Riven (vocalist of Scarless) and Mat Nur aka Mano Esperanza ( solo artist ).
He also did 2 music videos, 1 with his christian rock band, Reverse, with the title Salt of the Earth and the other one his own instrumental song with the title Strawberry Vanilla.
Audio Production
Matthew has also done recording and mixing for bands and artists. He did some recording for his band Big Stars 24, the mixing and mastering of that album was also done by him. For his solo album Strawberry vanilla, most of the recordings were done by him and also the programming of drums, bass and keyboards. The mixing of the album was also done by him. For his christian rock band, Reverse, he was the recording engineer for most parts like vocals, guitars, bass and keyboards.
He has also helped upcoming Singaporean artist like Mat Nur aka Mano Esperanza to record his songs like Brand new day and Haslina. He also played, recorded, mixed and mastered for Fiona Teo's demo track for The Ultimate Voice competition organised by SAFRA which she qualified for the competition and got to the semi finals.
Piano and Keyboard
Matthew sessioned for a Singapore retro band called quasimodo playing keyboards for a gig at the Esplanade outdoor stage. He also played piano for the Royal Academy of Dance exams for a few years.
Additional information
Matthew is also a member of the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS). He also does guitar set ups and maintenance.
