Miriam Sings
Folk • Pomona, NY
Miriam Shaw received two college degrees from Buffalo State College, one in art and the other in computers. She returned to her Jewish roots at the age of 28 and attended seminaries in Minnesota, Brooklyn, and Israel.
Now that her children are growing independent, Miriam has more time to explore the world through the lens of the internet, which presents tremendous potential to create more music and quickly get it to the many people who love her work. Miriam writes and sings her own songs. So far she has produced three recordings of her original music, has had the lyrics to one of her songs published in a volume of The International Library of Poetry and also in Natural Parent Magazine. Her song How has even become a popular girls’ camp song. She has performed for women’s groups in New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, and England since 1986.
