"That drummer is freaking insane!" Formed in 2020 during the isolation of the pandemic, Mount Halo is all Matthew Kelly, drummer for Neckbone, Elsa Mira, and Glass the Sky. That's me, so I won't hype in the third person... For decades, I've enjoyed playing drums on the Houston scene and beyond warming the stage for Daddy Longhead, Kings X, Electric Guest (after we played, all these amazing people lined up by the drum riser for autographs), Deadboy and the Elephantmen, Ugly Kid Joe (not even kidding), Bouffant Jellyfish, Sprawl, and in tribute shows to the Beatles, The Pixies, Foo Fighters, and Dead Boys along with the actual Cheetah Chrome. I've had the pleasure of recording three albums at Houston's iconic recording studio: SugarHill. Mount Halo creates soulful robot pop bringing catchy and concise structures to life through live acoustic and digital drums, electric and acoustic guitars, analog and digital keyboards, layered vocals and lush harmonies with lyrics preferring metaphor over simile and well worth the repeated listen!
