Ian William O'Mara White

Singer, songwriter, musician

You could say Tampa native Ian White was born to rock n’ roll. His first concert was the Rolling Stones' 1994 Voodoo Lounge Tour. Of course, he was in vitro at the time. But that didn’t prevent him from dancing up a storm right up until his birth on Aug. 17, 1995. Lessons in violin, piano, clarinet and saxophone at a young age whetted his appetite. But his fate was sealed when his mom introduced him to Pink Floyd and The Doors. It was then he realized the guitar was his destiny. He received his first electric guitar at age 10 and, shortly after, added the acoustic guitar, 12-string, mandolin and harmonica to his repertoire. To date, White has written more than 30 songs and was among 25 young songwriters chosen to participate in the Grammy Museum's Music Revolution Project in August 2013 where he attracted the attention of blues great Billy Branch who plans to record one of White's songs. White will graduate from Tampa Catholic High School in 2014 and plans to major in music composition
