Nate Nelson Acoustic
Country • Conroe, TX
Do not expect any “hot guitar licks” or Stevie Ray Vaughn-esque leads when you see a Nate Nelson Acoustic Show. What you can expect is a passionate, honest performance of each and every cover tune and original song that you’ll experience. The powerful vocals coming through that bearded Iowa smile will help you connect with the meaningful and emotion filled lyrics through each one of his sets. “Every song on one of my set lists is there for a specific reason. It may make you happy, sad, bring back the past, or think about the future, but I hope to God it makes you feel something”, Nate states. The cover tunes are a mix of country and southern rock and roll.
Nate has always been a musically driven person, but was never a musician. He didn’t learn his first guitar chord until January of 2012 after he made his first appearance singing on a live stage just weeks before that. After that day, Nate made the commitment to practice at least an hour a day while staying at home with his infant son. He admits that he is technically not “self-taught” as his lessons came from YouTube videos and smart phone apps, but it taught him how to play one whole song. The song had 5 chords which sent him searching for more songs with these chords. “I’m not one of those guys that has been playing since childhood. I try to hide behind my voice as much as possible”, Nate humbly states. “I do what I can with what I have, and it seems to work.”
After just a year, Nate had put together a set list and was playing out in the Des Moines suburbs for tips. His confidence grew with each performance and began to earn paying gigs.
Fast forward to 2017 and Nate has played over 200 shows across central Iowa as a solo acoustic act, a power acoustic/electric duo with Kristoffer Fowler, and most recently fronting the band Nate Nelson and the State Street Band who have made appearances on the Great Day Morning Show on KCWI 23 HD as well as graced the stages of the Iowa State Fair on the Bud Light Stage.
In the fall of 2017 he is calling Conroe, Texas his new home and is ready to spread his passion for music as far as he can.
"We'll see y'all out there!"
