NODE (PURE ITALIAN MOTHERFUCKERS)
Metal • Como, IT
The band was formed in 1994 by the guitarist Steve Minelli. After the first demo “Grind Revolution in Mass
Evolution”, which got excellent reviews into the music magazines, in December 1995 Node released their first EP
"ASK", published by italian label Lucretia Records, with the new vocalist/guitarist Gary D’Eramo, new bass player
Klaus Mariani, new drummer John Manti and Steve Minelli.
After many live gigs (also supporting Death on their Symbolic tour italian gig) in January 1998 Node releases the
debut album “Technical Crime” which features new singer/guitar player Daniel Botti. In June '99 Steve Minelli left the
band.
In August 2001 the band recorded its second album in Sweden (Underground Studios – Västerås). The new line up was:
Daniel Botti (vc/gtrs), Gary D’Eramo (gtrs/vc), Klaus Mariani (bs) and Mario Giannini (dr). “Sweatshops" was out in
February 2002 through Scarlet. The style seems to be a mix between the wide classic/heavy atmospheres with an
obsessive and aggressive interpretation of the north-european death metal.
In June Node opens Gods of Metal, the biggest metal festival in Italy. Another great gig takes place in march 2003 at
Alcatraz, with Node supporting Anthrax. This is one of Marco Di Salvia's first gigs with Node, the new crazy and
f*cking impressive drummer, whose playing is fast, furious and technical.
With a great production by Pelle Saether and Lars Linden @ the swedish Underground Studio, Node releases in early
2004 "Das Kapital", maybe their most iconic album, followed by a promotional tour together with Lacuna Coil
(March / April 2004). At that moment they are one of the more active and well-known extreme metal acts from Italy,
playing gigs suporting Fear Factory in Turin and touring with Withering Surface and HateSphere.
During summer 2005 the 4th full lenght was recorded, still at the Underground Studio in Sweden with Pelle Saether on
the mixing board. “As God Kills" was mastered by Goran Finnberg (The Mastering Room) and published by the
german label Massacre Records on 20 May 2006. This release marked a shift in Node style, which became less
"progressive" but much more violent and aggressive. Between september and october 2006 they toured Europe
supporting their co-citizens mates Lacuna Coil and the finnish Poisonblack.
In November 2008 Daniel Botti departs from Node after 12 years and 4 albums together and a few months later bass
player Klaus Mariani did the same, both for personal reasons: it is a bad blow, but the show must go on! Gabriel
Pignata (Destrage) is the new bass player and Daniel's gap is filled both by Rex Caruso (voice) and Andrea "Attila"
Caniato (guitar), Node thus becoming a 5-piece band for the first time.
“In The End Everything is a Gag”, recorded and mixed by Marco Ribecai in Pisa, is released on January 2010,
marking a more groovy-modern approach to Node's metal style.
Afterwards Node's lineup changes almost completely again, with Gary D'Eramo as the only founder member left in the
band. The newcomers are Pietro Battanta on drums (since 2010), Rudy Gonella Diaza on lead guitar, "Dero"
DeRobertis on bass and CN Sid on vocals, all bringing fresh forces and brutality to the band in 2013.
"Cowards Empire", the 6th full lenght - recorded mixed and mastered by Larsen Premoli (Destrage) at RecLab studios,
is released by Punishment 18 Records on April 26th 2016. It features 11 tracks (with many special guests of the italian
metal scene), 2 additional re-recorded songs (Children from Technical Crime and Jerry Mander from Sweatshops) and a
bonus DVD with live footage from Node's 20th Anniversary Concert.
Live activity to promote the new studio release brought Node throughout 2016 and 2017 on many italian stages but also
abroad (in Moscow and St. Petersburg supporting Kataklysm and in Prague).
Meanwhile the line-up changes again: in 2018 Gary takes charge of the bass, leaving guitar duties to the new entries
Giancarlo Mendo and Gabriele Ghezzi, raising the technical bar to a whole new level.
Node released in november 2018 “Propheta”, an EP with a new song featuring italian thrashers In.Si.Dia, 5 live songs
recorded with the latest line-up and a re-recorded verison of 2002 song “Jerry Mander”. Node is currently working on
new music, bringing on live activity as well.
In 2024 Node are back with their 7th Album “Canto VII”, released in april 2024 through Nadir Music, that features a
lyrical concept about Dante’s Inferno 7th Chant analyzed in the context of today’s society. This is the first album
featuring new vocalist Dave Arri and the first as a 4-piece band since 2006 As God Kills.
Shortly after the album, also the band’s biography book “As Book Kills” by Massimo Villa has ben published through
Arcana Edizioni (in italian language).
2024 will also mark the 30° anniversary of the band and there will be special live shows to celebrate this milestone.
