Owen Mack and the Immaculates
Alternative • Closter, NJ
Owen Mack and the Immaculates are a trio of high school musicians from Bergen County, NJ. The group writes jazz/pop music and plays venues in northern New Jersey. The Immaculates are known for trying to create incredibly high energy shows and are always hitting the studio and writing music. The band is lead by Owen "Mack" McCloskey, a keyboardist and vocalist since the age of 10. Owen's main influences include Ben Folds, Jamie Cullum, and Bill Evans. Owen is a prolific songwriter and spends most of his time at the piano wasting away the hours as he writes new material. The Immaculates never cease to come up with new tunes. Owen is also known for his captivating stage performance, and has destroyed a couple hundred dollars worth of equipment over the course of his performing career. He'll slam his keyboard to the point of submission during an Immaculates gig. Owen compiled the Immaculates in 2014. Andre "Dre" Broomes is a fusion bassist greatly influenced by Marcus Miller and Esperanza Spalding. Dre is a vital part of the group's grounded rhythm section, but at the same time is a very melodic bassist. Dre fills up space with nasty slapping or blazing melodic riffs during multiple Immaculates tunes, and with Owen and Dom creates a unique rhythmic performance. Dre is very much a lead performer and can hold down any rhythm solo, but working in concert with the rest of the Immaculates' sounds brings out a harmony that is next to unparalleled. Dre's harmonic effects and tones are also an essential part to many of the Immaculates' tunes and bring out an organic beauty in many songs that would not be present without Dre. Most importantly, Dre is the morale booster of the Immaculates, playing onstage with a smile or remarking on a killer performance with a cheery, "good looks". Dominick Calabrese is the drummer/percussionist of The Immaculates. His progressive rock and fusion influences combined with a high energy performance make for an impressive beast behind the kit. Dom is the rhythmic genius behind all of the Immaculates songs, turning ordinary beats and rhythms into something beautiful, tight, and incredibly unique. Owen could play a new song and Dom will come up with a fantastic drum beat in less than a minute. Dom's lightning fills are complemented by his nearly impeccable internal pocket; never speeds up or slows down. Dom is the biggest reason the Immaculates can live record without a metronome. Dom's sense of humor and "lets get s**t done" attitude makes Immaculates rehearsals an absolute productive breeze. Dom is hilarious and friendly, and adds an amazing dynamic to the Immaculates.
