Party at the Moontower
Indie • Biloxi, MS
Party at the Moontower features long-time Gulf Coast musicians Kennon Barton, Pat Powell (The Ingalloids), Marlowe Ramirez, and Michael Ross (Cyclosane, The Bailout Plan). Formed in the Summer of 2010, the group joined after years of playing acoustic shows together in separate bands. Songwriting and arranging has always been central to their live performances, and the group has worked to combine different influences and styles to create songs that carry deep meanings and memorable lyrics. Since releasing "The Sky is Falling" EP locally and on itunes in 2012, the group has been constantly writing new music, and is currently recording a studio project in Pascagoula, MS that is scheduled to be released in the Fall of 2013 and will feature 5 previously unrecorded songs. While individual songs from the EP tend to be eclectic combinations of different subgenres of Rock, the project can most easily be described as upbeat, melodic rock with elements of Grunge, Pop, and Psychedelia. Over the past three years they have performed and toured all along the Gulf Coast as well as parts of Texas, headlining the Full Moon Festival in the Fall in Dallas as well as playing 2 years in a row at SXSW in Austin. Locally, the group has performed at the Gulfport Music Festival, the Gautier Mullet and Music Festival, Fayard Fest, and the Grand Casino as well as numerous clubs and bars from New Orleans to Mobile. In early 2013 they won the coveted Covey Award for Best Local Rock Band (original) and participated in the annual Hard Rock Rising Battle for the second year in a row. They have been fortunate enough to open locally for John Popper (Blues Traveler), Dax Riggs (Acid Bath), and Machina (Evanesance and Future Leaders of the World) and look forward to sharing their unique brand of Rock with any willing fans of original music. Audio and video recordings of live performances and studio writing sessions can be found at www.reverbnation.com/partyatthemoontower, www.youtube.com/partyhardmoontower, and www.myspace.com/partatthemoontowerms along with pictures and a current Calendar of upcoming shows. Neil Armstong turned and set his left boot on the surface of the moon at 2:56 UTC July 21, 1969, then spoke the famous words "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Little did he know the moondust covering the bottom of that boot would form a radioactive moon crystal that would forever change the Gulf Coast music scene. Neil didn't know the crystal was radioactive, and hid it inside a small "bootie" or sock-like shoe used by astronauts, during his 18 day quarantine following the Apollo mission. Neil would carry the crystal with him on his "Giant Leap" tour as a good luck charm. In Atlanta, GA, he lost the crystal in the lobby of Atlanta's famed Clermont Hotel while trying to show it to a young lady, receiving a gin and tonic, and discussing the effects of thermonuclear energy waves on housepets. A young boy by the name of Mik Mikelson (later to grow up to become the famed Unicorn archaeaeologist/historian Dr. Mike Michaelson) found the crystal, and carried it to his home in Mobile, AL. In the summer of 2010, Kennon Barton, Patrick Powell, Marlowe Ramirez, and Michael Ross were playing discgolf at Chickasabouge County Park and found the crystal lying in four pieces beside a tree in the woods on the left side of the 15th hole. The band members immediately knew their fate would be to unite the broken shards of the mooncrystal in order to absorb its powers. They quickly formed Party at the Moontower and wrote 50 songs, all powered by the Mooncrystal's computer-screen-like glow. They currently keep the crystal at an unknown location, referred to as the "Moontower." In the studio now, recording their second EP to be released some time in the near future. It's sure to be one wild party...at the moontower

Lyrics

Got nothing left but my soul. Stole it back from the devil at the crossroads. Never really care what anybody thought of me. Living this life of mine takes its tole. There's no safe place for me to hide. Nothing left for me but to die. No safe place to close my eyes. There's no safe place for me to hide. Disgrace. I'm sure its written all over my face. And how the hell did I end up in this place? My life is a waste.
