PHIL LIAM PROJECT features one member, who composes music with atmosphere as it moves him as he hopes it moves you. This so far is a solo venture at present time and a nod to the synth artists mentioned below.
Phil was born in Cheshire ,England in 1962. Growing up on Classical music, Elvis, Johnny Cash, John Denver, The Carpenters, James Last Orchestra, Beatles, The Bee Gees, Abba etc. Exposure to these varied genres influenced Phillip's penchant for melody.
Once a professional drummer/backing vocalist/Rhythm Guitarist on the ON(Canada) Club, Wedding and Corporate music circuit Phil played everything you expect to hear in those environments. He has been in and freelanced for many regional bands playing Festivals and small theaters ,even travelling to Europe in mid 80''s. A versatile player he loves audience interaction but his wish to be' transported' by this music was lacking .He solved this by exploring guitar ,bass ,keyboards and recording song sketches onto a 4 track recorder. With cassette filled ideas he shaped demos into songs and soundscapes ,finding real satisfaction!
His main influences are Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd, The Fixx, Alan Parsons, Magna Carta Cartel, Ultravox, Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Gary Numan, Enya ,Abba, etc. He concentrates on writing/recording at home with styles as acoustic, light rock and Ambient Instrumentals with elements overlapping. Versatility is his strongest musical trait.
He recently accomplished a lifelong goal when his song "Dreams To Vapor" was placed in the Canadian produced show "When Paintings Come Alive" which aired to 7 million people in April (2017). In Sept 2018 his song 'Everest' was placed in another episode of the show! :)
