I love writing, arranging and producing songs in my home studio. Really not much to my story. Started playing guitar at 12. Took lessons for a couple of years and was on the verge of quitting when a friend asked me to join a band he was in to play rhythm guitar. Got a crash course in playing bar chords and slowly but surely grew musically, including singing and playing keyboards. That time in junior high and high school, playing in bands and hanging with musicians....is when my musical journey really started.
Started writing songs when I was 18 or so, and became more proficient at it in my twenties. Probably wrote around 40 songs. My ambition was becoming a songwriter. Got a couple of tunes taken by a music publisher in Atlanta, but alas, no cuts. After some soul searching decided I wasn't good enough to gamble on ever 'making it'. I wasn't interested in performing, so I pretty much gave up writing songs and playing music for 25 years.
But for whatever reason, I began playing more and more music and started writing again in my late 50's. I'm more prolific now than in my youth. I believe the songs are better written and more interesting. Moreover, I really enjoy working out arrangements and recording in my home studio. The technology is extraordinary compared to what was available in the late 70's and early 80's. It allows me to approach studio quality at my convenience right in my home. In a word -- Fun.
