He has produced numerous videos and television shows, and has a thriving youtube channel under http://www.youtube.com/user/tapiauno1
Tapia is the son of parents from the Island of Puerto Rico, who immigrated to the Northeastern United States in the late 1970’s. He was raised in Providence, RI during the turbulent 80’s ; with his family struggling to adjust from cultural shock and financial difficulties, in Hartford and Manton Projects of Providence. He witnessed the many ups and downs of poverty. At a very young age he was exposed to the outlet of music for self expression. First, through his Father who was an amateur musician playing the congas, Latin percussion instruments and also the trumpet which Tapia was briefly introduced to and taught . Second, through his uncle who was a professional musician that had toured the Caribbean composing and performing several genres of music. As is the case with so many families during the drug infested 1980’s, his family was torn apart by drug addiction and crime “At about six years of age I had no father figures.” His father and uncles stayed in jail, and were victims of drug addiction. Tapia did not have many outlets except for the culture of hip hop which was emerging and the influences of older cousins that would have him break dancing, rapping songs off the radio and doing graffiti in books. These were the only things he had to rely on, so they became the staples and constants in his life.
Listening to groups such as Africa bambatta and the Soul Sonic Force, Melle Mel and the Furious five EPMD,RUN DMC, and soloists such as the god Rakim,KRS ONE, and Boogie down productions gave Tapia his base. Later, groups such as Cocoa Brovas, Black Moon, and soloists such as The Notorious BIG, Tupac Shakur, BIG PUN and Nas inspired Tapia to refine his flow. Tapia was immersed in what we call the HIP HOP culture from winning awards B-boying, creating graffiti murals, dropping freestyles in “Ciphers” all over the city and being part of the group “Concepts of Intelligence” which battled local rap groups.
Tapia became a parent of two sons by the age of 20. These personal struggles and street life led to an enlistment in the US ARMY. He did two combat tours in Iraq during, that time he was exposed to the international impact of “our HIP HOP culture .” In the military, he spent more time overseas than in the United States. During the time that was spent home he was in transition from the great state of Georgia to Texas to Oklahoma . He was exposed to the universal appeal of Hip Hop and was influenced by these regional trends emerging in the culture. This inspired Tapia to take his musical ambitions to a higher level and start the small independent label called “Mogul Money Entertainment” and start The group “Art of War” who subsequently released “The revolution “ a compilation mix tape. It garnered attention internationally on the internet due to it being recorded in combat during his last tour of combat and a video for a song called “Soldiers never rest” filmed in combat on location in Iraq. This led to us being approached by the television show “My war story“ to make a feature film on our story for the History Channel unfortunately it didn’t pan out but it inspired us for more .
Tapia traveled back to Providence and started being recognized for his flow. Other artist wanted him to be featured on some of their work and he has been featured on numerous mix tapes that have ap peared all over the country, with artists such as Krook Rock (Universal records and pmt entertainment) Temperamento(Block Royal and Block Royal 401) and the Midwest Murderer Al the Bandit, making connections in the mix tape game all over the United States. Working as a producer he has executive produced songs and mix tapes with other artist and for djs in the Texoma area and New England. He has started his clothing line BRUSH which is for sale and Being worn in the Midwest and New England. The Mogul Money Entertainment ; “Melting pot move ment” is powered by the spirit of independent entrepreneurship and diversity , “I rhyme in both English and Spanish and reach a broader audience because of that.” His personal goal is to take the “Melting Pot Movement” international and be consistent in supplying that lyrical depth and sound He is known for while still giving the hip hop audience, which is the popular cultural demographic a look that is differ ent, original and marketable.
In every aspect Tapia is confident and ready to compete track for track in the market place with any artist or movement. “My work ethic is what differentiates me from others and my grind is kicking in to high gear right now.
