The Human Orchestra (THO) is a seven piece band from Hamilton, Ontario that blends elements of folk, rock and jazz together to create their own sound. THO released their first EP, Lip Service (Oak Studio, Toronto, Ontario) in 2012. The EP garnered then a nomination for “best new group” at the 2012 Hamilton Music Awards. They released a music video in support of the EP for the song “Heavy Handed Heart” in 2013. Later that year, they played at Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival. THO finished 2013 with the release of a 7” single “Bad Jokes” (Catherine North Studios, Hamilton, Ontario). The single was recorded with Michael Chambers (City and Colour, Whitehorse) and garnered them a mention on Grant Lawrence’s Top 24 Standout Artists as part of CBC’s Searchlight Competition in 2014. THO has had the opportunity to share the stage bands such as Family of the Year, Library Voices, Two Hours Traffic, Imaginary Cities, Mounties, and many more. They have had the opportunity to play at events such as 2013 and 2014 NXNE (Toronto), Sound of Music Festival (Burlington), Raise the Roof (Hamilton), Seven Sundays in Gage Park (Hamilton), A Midsummer’s Dream (Hamilton), JunoFest (Hamilton) and many more. THO just completed their first full length record, which will be released in July 2015. Their self-titled record was recorded at Threshold Studios (Hamilton, Ontario) with Michael Keire (The Dirty Nil, New Hands).
