MANITU REBELS AND SLAPS US IN THE FACE BY INVENTING “STORM-ROCK”
RAW : “the very inventive third album from a very demanding band”
Manitu, meaning Wild in Lakota Sioux, has been so appropriately named.
This thirds album gets back to basics with a less polished sound than its predecessors, getting rid of the fundamentals that had ensured the band’s success since forming in 2003.
With RAW, Swiss rock band Manitu takes the road of “A more organic....A coarse...A Raw kind of rock”...filled with emotion where ferocious melodic guitars are omnipresent. Virtually a mix of cast iron, acid, and velvet.
When new drummer Fabio Duro joined in 2013... this formally completed the solid bass and guitar duo of Lionel Ebi and David Grillon and created the chemistry the band was looking for. Adding to this is Manna Lia's unique vocals, ranging from her misleadingly naive voice to her raging melodic expression, creating and reinforcing the unhealthy tensions of Manitu’s bold compositions.
Manitu’s sound, influenced by early Foo fighters and Kyuss, is meant to be discordant, neither stoner nor post grunge. Their third cd “surfs on the singular”... very unique and always breaking new ground.
This Manitu Rock Wave... being dirty and quite irreverent...never following the trends that come and go.
After erupting on the main stages of both French and German Switzerland, including live TV and National radio, Manitu spent the past year composing and recording this new opus.
Listen for yourself...the music envelops you...tugging...drawing on that Rawness in all of us.
RAW was officially released on Friday February 27th, 2015 at Le Sas, Delemont, Switzerland....after a
week of residency allowing the band to hone its live show for its upcoming tour.
