The Other Buzzby Bands
Alternative • NSW, AU
Over the last 35 Years I've played in heaps of different bands besides my originals bands I've played in a lot of Cover Bands and at Jams Coco and The Nuts- Was formed in 1984 playing Radio Birdman, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Masters Apprentice, Stiff Little Fingers, Dire Straits and Various Blues Covers etc, The band played many parties and pubs around the northern beaches with residencies at the Royal Antler Narrabeen on Friday and Saturday Nights, Manly Soccer Club Cromer and the Time and Tide. The Band consisted of John (Coco) Colclough Vocals, Steve Drew (Tabs) on Keyboards and Vocals, Chris (Chook) Baker on drums, Mick (Mutt) Hughes on Guitar and Vocals, Fiona Reeves on Guitar and Vocals and Mark(Buzz) Bury on Bass and Vocals. We played to some big audiences in our time from 1984 to 1988 and had a few line changes and the usual band politics but overall we had a heap on fun and good time and became better musicians for it. Practice Nights at Newport and Mick and Chris Place where legendary especially Jim O'sullivan came one night to hang out and we watched the episode of the young ones when Nigel lost his head I've never laughed so much in my life and neither of the other band members. Unfortunately we .lost Mick in 1988 when he a Cerebral Haemorrhage in Dee WHy pub watching a band. I lost a good mate who I played a lot of footy with and spend hours jamming with. The practice regime we had and put together for ourselves held us all in good stead as musicians for years to come , we also started to write songs and challenge ourselves musically as a group. In the end the band would get back together at various stages after 1986 and play parties etc but life took us all on different roads but were all still pretty good friends. Who could forget our great versions of Time , Sultans of Swing, Hand of Law, Hey Joe, and Tabs always legendary performance of Louie Louie and I cant stop lovin. Tabs 21st at Cromer Youth Centre playing to 500 people was an absolute blast with the Dungeon Henchmen. We must have played alright as we have a bunch of Gypsy Jokers turn up to watch us play at the Antler on Sundays and they always seem to have a good time as the rest of our followers and friends.
