Before relocating in late 2023 to Raleigh, North Carolina, Tom Schneider led his own jazz trio, The Tom Schneider Trio (piano/bass/drums), and a jazz/pop/contemporary group, "Tom Schneider and the Metro", in Cincinnati, Ohio and northern Kentucky. Tom served as pianist with the Philip Paul Trio for several years prior to the legendary drummer's retirement, during their tenure as house band at the Cricket Lounge of the Cincinnatian Hotel and at other venues in the city. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Paul_(drummer) From 2016 to 2021, he was pianist in the Philip Paul Trio, led by the legendary King Records studio drummer Philip Paul. For over five years, he performed every Friday at the Symphony Hotel, in Cincinnati, on 14th Street across from Music Hall, first with Philip Paul, and from 2021 to 2023, after Philip Paul's retirement, with his own trio. For more than two decades,Tom also sang and played keyboard in the Greater Cincinnati area with vibist-vocalist Paul Hawthorne. Tom served two terms as music director at Unity Church of Today, in Monroe, Ohio, singing and playing keyboards every Sunday, often performing his own compositions, as well as improvising meditative, introspective music during the minister's meditation segment of the service. For many years he was a regular pianist, in solo, duo, and trio settings, at the Incline Lounge of "The Celestial", a restaurant in Mt. Adams, overlooking the city of Cincinnati. Tom has been performing professionally since 1965, when he was a lead singer in local Cincinnati-area rock bands. By the early '70s, he was playing electric piano and organ in bands at weddings and in local Greater Cincinnati venues. After a 5-year hiatus during the 'disco' years, he returned to performing as a solo keyboardist/vocalist. World travel as a cruise ship pianist from 1986-1990 led him eventually back home, where he performs at private parties, weddings, and various restaurants, either solo or with other instrumentalists. Tom served for more than eight years as music director of Unity Church of Today, in Monroe, Ohio, where he sang and played every Sunday, performed his own compositions and accompanied guest singers/musicians. He resigned in June of 2013 in order to devote his musical energies entirely to composing, arranging, recording & performing. He continued performing at Unity Church of Today as a guest performer and/or substitute music director, and in 2022 was asked to return as official music director, leaving only upon moving to North Carolina. From 2016, until relocating to Raleigh, NC in 2023, he was on the faculty of the Cincinnati Music Academy: http://www.cincinnatimusicacademy.com, and the School of Rock Cincinnati.
