SPLVSH
Reggae • Bronx, NY
Reggae fusion artist and songwriter is the former producer and artist manager Michael McFade, turned singer. He describes his music as New Wave which is basically "Alternative Reggae, Afrobeats, R&B and Dancehall straight out from a blender". Having been in the music industry since 2003 both in Jamaica and USA, and establishing relationships with many industry players from Eklypse who is the last artist for Michael to manage, to Grammy Winning Producer Michael S. Rosen who helped him with The Legends Live a Punk Rock band from New York and Tanya Stephens.
Splvsh! took his name from a suggestion that his dad gave in 2004 when he was a member of his high school boy band which also included Reggae singer Infinite, Quazy Ravas, Alex, Joel Guantlet and Gospel singer Hilkiah Jones. The group did not last very long and the members all went on to achieve their individual goals. Music has always been the center of his social life from as early as his Sunday school days at church to his young adult years as part of his school and church choir. In 2018 Splvsh decided that he was no longer interested in managing and producing artists and wanted to explore the business from the position as an artist with an initial focus on West Coast or 'Island' style of Reggae. At some point during the writing and recording process, Splvsh realized he did not want to be confined by any particular genre, despite having a preference to Reggae and Afrobeats and so he came up with an idea for a new Genre called New Wave.
Splvsh! was born on March 25, 1985 in Kingston, Jamaica and grew up with his mother Georgia Powell and step father Allan Huxtable who also gave him the name splash for his former boy band some 15 years before it was accepted. Artist that you may consider with similar styles or sounds to Splvsh includes, Jah Cure, Kranium, Stalk Ashley, Demarco, Koffee, Lincoln 3DOT among others.
Splvsh! often writes about his own experiences, however, he is not afraid to writing fantasies or the experiences of others. He wants to be considered as a storyteller rather than as a philosopher, with the freedom to explore a wide variety of topics and discussions. If there is one goal that Splvsh! has, it would be to be able to always perform at live events all over the world, not only is that his dream, but it is also his ultimate day job. In 2019 Splash! teaming up with John Jr Entertainment and it's producers Peter Gordon and Boswell Anglin for his upcoming debut album which will include songs like Jamaican Proverbs, Here and Cold Water featuring two of Splash!'s favorite artists Ajji a talented Dancehall artist and Mr. Tropical who represents an island that Splash! loves to go for vacation, Guadeloupe.
